AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL A RESOUNDING SUCCESS FOR TRADE EXHIBITORS

Exhibitors at Autosport International, held at the NEC, Birmingham, reported optimism for the year ahead as the 2010 show closed on Sunday. Trade was up 10 per cent on 2009 despite the poor weather at the start of the show, and it was widely felt that the industry is picking up.

Designers and engineers of race and road engines, Mountune Racing, usually have a stand in the two-day Autosport Engineering show, but this year decided to exhibit in the Trade and Technical area for all four days. The move was an experiment for the company, and one that has proved to be a success.

"Thursday and Friday were very good for us, as we met with existing suppliers and customers as well as prospective new clients," said Roger Allen, Mountune Racing General Manager. "We were curious as to how the weekend would go, and honestly it's been better than we imagined. We had some serious racing enquiries on Saturday, and overall it has been super business. We'll certainly do it again next year."

"Last year was a challenging one for the motorsport and automotive industry generally," said Gavin Brown, Managing Director of Haymarket Exhibitions. "Autosport International has started 2010 with a resounding success and encouraging reports from exhibitors: we look forward to an exciting year ahead."
