THE LOOSE CANNONS DOMINATE IN THE DAVID BRABHAM’S CELEBRITY KARTING CHALLENGE 2010 AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL.
Over 100 of the world’s best racing drivers joined forces to take part in David Brabham’s Celebrity Karting Challenge 2010 at Autosport International on Friday 15 January, offering members of the public the rare chance to race alongside their motorsport heroes.
The annual charity kart race, taking place for the first time in the Live Action Arena, saw stars from across the racing spectrum joining Brabham to raise awareness for Malaria No More UK.
The Loose Cannons featuring Riki Christodoulou, Paul Rees, Will Stevens and Duncan Tappy, alongside public drivers Dave Fry and Shaun Traynor, took the spoils. Team Harley Slack Racing came a close second followed by the Mad Ferrets in third.
Duncan Tappy from the winning team commented: “We returned to the Celebrity Karting Challenge as defending champions, so we are delighted to retain the title again. We’ll definitely be back next year to do battle once again, as there really isn’t another event quite like this in the UK offering such an unrivalled gathering of drivers and this was the best event yet.”
Event co-founder David Brabham said: “I’m very happy with how this whole event has come together and achieving our ultimate goal of raising awareness for Malaria No More UK. We had a fantastic line-up of drivers supporting our first appearance in the Live Action Arena, which we couldn’t have achieved without the invaluable support of Autosport International. It was also amazing to have live coverage on Radio Le Mans and timing on TSL. With the help of these very important partners this event can just keep on getting better and better.”
The fundraising effort will continue at Autosport International throughout Saturday and Sunday with the Racing4Charity auctions offering an impressive array of lots.
